Wisconsin
Museums and Historical Societies
to
Celebrate Fourth Annual
Wisconsin
Museums Week and International Museum Day

The Wisconsin
Federation of Museums (WFM) is working with
Wisconsin museums and historical societies to celebrate
Wisconsin Museums Week between May 10-18, 2007 and specifically
on International Museum Day, Sunday,
May 18, 2008.
Created in
1977, International Museum Day is intended to provide a
nucleus for museums’ creative aspirations and efforts and
focus local, national and international attention on
work done by museums. It is designed to be an
opportunity for professionals from all over the world to
promote the roles of their prospective institutions and to
reflect on a particular theme. The International Museum
Day theme for 2008 is Museums and Social
Change and Development.
Last year, 28 Wisconsin museums participated
and over 32,000 people attended Wisconsin museums that week. The
state-wide program will be held on site at each
museum either just on Sunday,
May 18 or for the entire week of May 10– 18. The
activities and programs for each institution follows.
