The Wisconsin Federation of Museums, the Rahr West Art Museum, Wisconsin Maritime Museum, and Manitowoc County Historical Society invite you to join your colleagues for a stimulating program designed to explore the many ways museums and their staffs can meet challenges and work together for a successful outcome.

 

The program opens with a reception at the Rahr West Art Museum on Sunday afternoon (October 10) and continues with sessions and workshops on Monday, October 11 at the hosting museums. The General Lunch Session features invited public representatives to discuss “Cultural Institutions as Community Catalysts."

Learn how to establish innovative partnerships with other agencies and institutions in your community. Panelists will discuss the roles and opportunities in collaborating with a variety of partners. Topics include : "Documenting, Collecting and Preserving WWII Histories through Varied Partners,” “Community Art Partnerships with a Public Dimension,” and “Big Impact, Small Partners.

Museums face many issues when juggling the roles of educational institution, audience development and donor relations. Area museums will discuss some of the controversial issues relating to exhibitions and programs.

     Bill Thiesen - The Hikawa Maru Issues with the Wisconsin Maritime Museum;

     Larry Fischer, Circus World Museum , Baraboo - The Great Circus Parade.
